The American Association of Equine Practitioners’ 55th Annual Convention is on stage in Las Vegas, Nev., as the world’s largest continuing education meeting for equine veterinarians.

The convention, which began Saturday, was expected to lure more than 3,500 veterinarians, veterinary students, and technicians for scientific lectures, industry forums, networking events and other opportunities for professional development. All sessions are being held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. The convention continues through Wednesday.

Convention Program Chair Nathaniel A. White II, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVS, and the AAEP Educational Programs Committee developed a comprehensive scientific program to cover a wide range of relevant veterinary topics. This year's program features business education sessions, new research on lameness in racehorses, and in-depth lectures on critical care and pain management. Also available to attendees are four optional dry labs and an ultrasound wet lab.

TheHorse.com will offer a special Convention Wrap-Up. The issue, which will mail out along with the March edition of The Horse: Your Guide To Equine Health Care magazine, will contain summaries of many of the scientific sessions presented at the meeting
