Using community resources, the Tulsa, Okla., Police Department successfully placed eight laid off police horses with five non-profit organizations. The horses will continue to work in therapeutic programs.

Due to dropping revenues and a struggling economy, Tulsa announced it would be laying off 37 employees, including 21 police officers and their eight mounts, Tulsa World reported. The horses, Roscoe, Jack, Ned, Otis, Amigo, Bob, Willie, and Buddy faced a grim future until the entire community provided a solution.
