More than 85 of the world’s leading equine experts will discuss the latest advances in horse health during the American Association of Equine Practitioners’ (AAEP) 46th Annual Convention, November 26-29 in San Antonio, Texas. The four-day gathering is expected to draw more than 4,500 participants.


Featured speakers include noted equine nutritionist Harold F. Hintz, PhD, MS, who will deliver the Frank J. Milne State-of-the-Art lecture. Hintz’s presentation will focus on recent advances in equine nutrition. Eclipse Award-winning trainer Bob Baffert will deliver the keynote speech, “Life with Horses,” and Howard Erickson, DVM, winner of the American Veterinary Medical Association’s (AVMA) 2000 Bayer Excellence in Research Award, will review exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage and discuss new concepts for prevention.


In-depth seminars and expert panels will explore lameness and poor performance in sport horses, medication in the equine athlete, vaccination, pediatric orthopedics, angular limb deformities, proximal suspensory desmitis and complementary therapies. Professional development workshops, table topics and hands-on wet labs complete the offerings for convention attendees. Nearly 90 continuing education credits are available toward advance placement in the veterinary field.
