The American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) has announced the appointment of deputy executive director and convention manager David Foley as its new executive director, effective May 1. Foley succeeds Gary Carpenter, who leaves the AAEP to become executive vice president of The Jockey Club.


As the AAEP’s deputy director, Foley managed the areas of membership services, conference and trade shows, AAEP publications and the web site. During his tenure, the AAEP added three new educational meetings, and the association’s Annual Convention set new records for attendance and vendor participation. Prior to coming to the AAEP, Foley held the position of assistant to the executive director and special events coordinator for the Kentucky Horse Park from 1985-1988. He is a native of Louisville and a 1985 graduate of the University of Kentucky.
