Response to the Equine Research Centre’s (ERC) second annual Flamboro Downs Night at the Races fundraiser was “absolutely amazing”, according to the Centre’s President, Dr. Andrew Clarke.


“It is always heartening to see the support of the industry in such a grand magnitude,” he said. “It really shows that the Standardbred breeders stand firmly behind the Equine Research Centre and what we’re achieving.”


The March 12 event featured dinner in a crowded Top O’ the Turn Dining Room, an action packed harness racing card. Dr. Clarke, himself, proved a winner going wire to wire with JoJo Chinto of City TV in an amateur drivers’ race sponsored by Chris Christoforu, Glengate Farms, Tom Joy of Windsor raceway and Flamboro Downs owner Charles Juravinski.


The night was topped off by a silent auction that featured many rare donated items including stallion services to over fifty top Standardbreds from across the continent. Some of these stallions’ breeding books were already closed and the auction offered the only open breeding opportunity
