The U.S. Department of Agriculture will hold a public meeting to discuss issues related to the humane care and treatment of exhibition animals covered under the Animal Welfare Act.


“I’m looking forward to hearing what people will say regarding the care and treatment of exhibit animals,” said W. Ron DeHaven, deputy administrator for animal care with the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, a part of USDA’s marketing and regulatory programs mission area.


The meeting will take place March 7, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m. On-site registration and sign-in for preregistered participants will take place from 7 to 8:30 that morning. The conference will be held at the USDA Conference Center, 4700 River Road, Riverdale, Md. 20737. The meeting is free and open to the public.
