Fire authorities in Michigan are investigating a barn fire which claimed the lives of 10 horses in Ionia County.

A Saranac Fire Department representative said personnel responded to a report from a passerby about a barn fire in Keene Township on May 2. The barn was fully involved in fire when crews arrived, representative said.

Ten horses—including four foals—died in the blaze, the representative reported.

The fire’s cause remains under investigation
