A man is facing multiple charges after releasing 14 Standardbreds from their stalls at the Stark County Fairgrounds, in Canton, Ohio, including one horse that died after falling into an icy lake.

Canton Police Department Public Information Officer Dennis Garren said his department received many reports of horses running on city streets on Jan. 14. Upon investigation, officers discovered the horses had been release from their stalls at the fairgrounds. One of the horses drowned when it became stranded in a nearby icy lake, while the rest of the horses were gathered and returned to their stalls.

Police arrested Jonathan D. Ford at the fairgrounds and charged him with disturbing the peace, inducing panic, and drug possession
