The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) has confirmed the state’s third equine case of West Nile virus (WNV) for 2019. The Osceola County horse, a 6-year-old unvaccinated Paso Fino mare, was euthanized.
According to FDACS, this case marks Florida’s third equine case and Osceola County’s first.
About West Nile Virus
WNV transmission occurs when infected mosquitoes feed on animals, as well as humans, after having fed on infected birds
