An analysis of EID data shows a decrease in the rate of fatal injury in 2020 compared to 2019.
No additional cases have been confirmed for 14 days.
The Sonoma County boarding facility has had no further cases in 14 days.
The horse’s Whatcom County boarding facility is under voluntary quarantine.
Other horses were potentially exposed at two events.

The case marks the province’s fifth confirmed case of EHV-1 resulting in EHM.
Two additional horses are suspected to have equine influenza, and four additional horses were exposed.
Three exposed mares remain under 21-day quarantine.
One of the horses was euthanized. The state has placed an additional 22 potentially exposed horses under quarantine.
Exposed horses now number 31.
The Sonoma County horse is undergoing treatment at a veterinary isolation unit.
All four premises are epidemiologically linked.
Officials suspect two additional cases of equine herpesvirus myeloencephalopathy.
A Webb County premises is currently under quarantine related to the case.
