Blood-Horse Publications has announced that The Blood-Horse Charitable Foundation will donate a minimum of $10,000 to the NTRA Charities Barbaro Memorial Fund.
The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) established the NTRA Charities Barbaro Memorial Fund earlier this month to raise awareness and money for equine health and safety research in the name of 2006 Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro, whose gallant struggle to overcome a catastrophic injury captivated horse enthusiasts around the world.
NTRA Charities–the NTRA’s nonprofit 501 (c) (3) subsidiary–oversees the Barbaro Memorial Fund and 100 percent of the funds raised flow to existing equine health charities like the Laminitis Fund established at the University of Pennsylvania, the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, and other industry charities focusing on laminitis research.
The minimum $10,000 donation will stem from a portion of the proceeds from the sales of a soon-to-be-released hardcover coffee table book entitled Barbaro: The Horse Who Captured America’s Heart, published by Eclipse Press, the award-winning book publishing division of Blood-Horse Publications, chronicling Barbaro’s life and legacy
