Being prepared in an emergency is critical to a positive outcome. Luke Bass, DVM, MS, Dipl. ABVP, Clinical Sciences Department Assistant Professor at the Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, in Fort Collins, recommends horses owners have a basic equine first aid kit on hand to better treat minor injuries, be prepared for emergencies, and tend to their horse before the veterinarian arrives.
