Law enforcement authorities in Hawaii County, Hawaii, are seeking whoever is responsible for shooting two horses in the Hakalau area of East Hawaii earlier this month.

Hawaii Police Department Lt. Miles Chong said that on June 8, the caretaker of the property where the horses were located discovered the decomposing carcass of a horse entwined in barbed wire. The horse had sustained a gunshot wound. The caretaker discovered another dead horse on the property the following day. That horse had also sustained a gunshot wound.

A cash reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in connection with the incident. Anyone with information about the shootings should call Crimestoppers in Hilo.at 808/961-8300, or in Kona at 808/329-8181. All Crimestoppers calls are confidential.
