The New South Wales Department of Primary Industries (DPI) is investigating the discovery of 25 dead horses in the state’s northwest region, according to a report from ABC News.

The report indicates that the animals’ bodies are too decayed to undergo testing for hendra virus or any other disease. The DPI is reportedly "treating the dumping as a serious issue" and is seeking public assistance in finding those responsible.

Anyone with information is asked to contact their local New South Wales police department or the DPI at 1800-808-095.
