With the second leg of the Triple Crown fast approaching, ReRun’s selection of Moneighs by classic contenders and champions will appear on eBay beginning May 20. The popular paintings created by famous racehorses, including John Henry, Victory Gallop, and Kentucky Derby winners Giacomo and Gato del Sol, are sold to benefit ReRun’s retired Thoroughbreds in need of second careers.

Each Moneigh is unique, created by using the whiskers, lips, and noses of Thoroughbreds. Many of the “artists” hold a paintbrush between their teeth to splash colors on high quality art paper, which is then finished off with a ribboned piece of mane, stamped with an authentic ReRun Moneigh insignia, and matted. Information about the horse or a photo of the actual creation of the masterpiece is often included with the painting.

So popular are the Moneighs that the first of a series of six limited edition mugs adorned with a colorful painting done by Cigar have nearly sold out, with reserved orders already in for John Henry’s cup, the second of the Champion Series.

The following is a partial list of Moneighs offered: Cherokee Run, Commendable, Gato del Sol, Louis Quatorze, Menifee, Pleasant Tap, Point Given, Victory Gallop, Cigar, Distorted Humor, Is It True, John Henry, Kafwain, and Tiznow
