First, thanks for all the e-mails of support for this Diary and for the boys. Second, I love my vet! She’s not just a professional, but she cares about the today, and the tomorrow. If I were eligible, I’d nominate her for the AAEP’s My Vet Matters contest that starts in January. Beginning Jan. 1, 2004, horse owners may submit an entry that explains why their veterinarian is exceptional in his or her care of the horse. Entries should not exceed 500 words and should give details about how the veterinarian has provided excellent care. One winning entry will be chosen each month beginning January 2004 and ending October 2004. The horse owner and veterinarian of each winning entry will each receive a prize package featuring apparel and equine health and nutrition items provided by the AAEP’s Educational Partners. The last date to submit an entry is Oct. 31, 2004.

The 10 monthly winners will be eligible for the grand prize package to be awarded in November 2004.  Grand prize winners will each receive two tickets, airfare, and room accommodations to the 2005 Kentucky Derby in Louisville, Ky. Entries can be e-mailed to Sally Baker, AAEP director of public relations, at sbaker@aaep.org or mailed to: AAEP, 4075 Iron Works Parkway, Lexington, KY  40511
