A stolen Colorado horse is unharmed and back with his owner after being rescued from an overturned trailer.

Chief Phil Tiffany, of the Fort Lupton Fire Protection District, said crews responded to a call about a horse trailer lying on its side on Sept. 2. Upon arrival, responders discovered a horse in the trailer.

Firefighters successfully extricated the horse from the trailer. A veterinarian called to the scene determined the horse had sustained only superficial cuts and scrapes.

Prior to the incident, the horse and trailer had been reported stolen by the owner, Tiffany said
