Mary Scollay, DVM, will be the Racing Medication and Testing Consortium’s (RMTC) next executive director and chief operating officer (COO).

In her new role, which she assumes Aug. 5, Scollay will be charged with advancing world-class laboratory drug testing standards, promoting RMTC-recommended rules and penalties for prohibited substances and therapeutic medications, monitoring emerging threats to racing integrity and racehorse health and welfare, and overseeing the administration of RMTC-funded research projects and educational programs.

The RMTC executive director/COO search committee said it selected Scollay based on her extensive knowledge and experience in racehorse medical treatment, managing pre- and post-race drug testing, research into emerging threats to horse racing integrity, and regulating horse racing.

“We are very pleased to have Dr. Scollay on board,” said RMTC Chair Alex Waldrop. “She has been working with the RMTC for years now and that will enable her to hit the ground running in this new capacity, at a pivotal time for the RMTC and the entire horse racing industry
