Two horses are dead after a single-vehicle accident that occurred as the animals were traveling to the All-American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus.
Ohio State Police Findlay Post Sergeant Jeff Conley said police responded to a crash Oct. 13 involving a pick-up truck from Michigan hauling a two-horse trailer on Ohio Route 15. Conley said the truck’s driver swerved off the left side of the road and onto the median before over-correcting, swerving right, and returning to the road. The two horses in the trailer were ejected when it overturned.
“There were four other trucks behind this one all hauling horses, but none of them were involved in the incident,” Conley said.
He said a University of Findlay veterinarian evaluated the horses; both were euthanized at the scene due to their injuries
