(Triesen) The family of BEMER ambassadors is growing: Martin Fuchs (Switzerland), Jur Vrieling (Netherlands), Daniel Dassler and Sönke Rothenberger (Germany), respectively a current European Champion and Vice World Champion, a 2014 Team World Champion, a former European Pony Champion and the Team Olympic and World Champion, are now ambassadors of BEMER Int. AG. All four names are synonymous with elite sport and comprehensive health care for horses.

Although horses cannot speak, they can nevertheless clearly signal both discomfort and a sense of wellbeing. And the focus is always on maximizing the latter – to keep these valuable, four-legged athletic partners healthy and motivated. Indeed, their owners go the extra mile to ensure this.

“Clooney feels incredibly good with the blanket,” says European champion Martin Fuchs. Clooney is his top horse – and his partner that helped him bring home the 2019 European Championship gold medal in the individual classification and the silver medal at the 2018 World Championship. Fuchs borrowed the BEMER Horse-Set from a friend: “It was winter. And I didn’t even know that Clooney had worn the blanket before the training session. I just noticed how loose and supple he was. So I asked the grooms in the stable who had ridden him the day before, and they told me they had been using the BEMER blanket for three or four days.” Top horses need top care, and Martin Fuchs, who comes from a family of internationally successful show jumpers, ensures that his horses are no exception. The BEMER Horse-Set originally emerged from the human application, from which the blanket and cuffs were adapted to the needs of horses in collaboration with riders, users and veterinarians.

Jur Vrieling from the Netherlands is also very fond of his set: “I use the Horse-Set before riding. My horses feel more supple. I also use it after more strenuous workouts. It ensures the horses are nice and relaxed when they leave the stable the following day. We’re really pleased with it, and my horses love it!” The show jumpers discovered the BEMER Horse-Set through colleagues who routinely take the – now legendary – BEMER blanket with them to competitions. Use of the BEMER Horse-Set at international events is permitted and complies with the rules of the FEI World Equestrian Federation.

Practical handling, safe and efficient application, the positive response of their equine partners – all of this is appreciated by the new BEMER ambassadors, which explains why show jumper Daniel Dassler didn’t hesitate even for a second: “I’ve been using the BEMER Horse-Set for many years and notice an improvement in my sports horses as well as my stallions.” Dassler runs the Gut Buchenhof riding facility in the Allgäu region, which also includes a stud farm. By physically triggering stimuli that alleviate restricted microcirculation, the Set not only benefits sport horses, but also stallions that are used for sporting purposes. “During breeding, a high load is placed on the stallions’ backs, which can manifest itself in tension when riding,” explains Dassler. “With the Set, the horses are fresher and more supple. I also use it immediately after a difficult course to boost their recovery.”

Sönke Rothenberger, Olympic team dressage champion, has also cleverly extended the Set’s range of applications. Although the BEMER cuffs are designed to stimulate blood flow and thus the supply of nutrients to the animals’ legs, he also applies them to the neck area of his horses. Furthermore, the BEMER Horse-Set is used on his horses every day, both before and after training. “We noticed that the horses relax a lot when you put the blanket on them,” says Rothenberger. “Some almost seem to deflate and are visibly relaxed in no time. If you use it regularly, they also associate the blanket with a positive reaction simply by putting it on.”

BEMER Int. AG works closely together with riders, grooms, veterinarians and other important experts in the field of equestrian sports. It is this exchange of knowledge, combined with the company’s expertise in microcirculation, that has made the success of the BEMER Horse-Set possible.
