Law enforcement authorities in Florida are seeking whoever is responsible fatally shooting a horse while it grazed in its Seminole County pasture last month.

According to a Seminole County Sheriff’s Department incident report, the horse’s owner discovered the animal dead in its pasture on Sept. 29. It was later determined that the horse had sustained a single gunshot wound just below its left shoulder in the "side breast area," the report relayed.

A neighbor reported hearing a loud bang consistent with a high-powered rifle shot before the horse’s remains were found, the report said. Investigators were unable to locate any evidence connected to the shooting.

Anyone with information connected to the incident should call the Seminole County Sheriff’s Department at 407/665-6600
