Indiana Authorities Seek Owner of Abandoned Horses
Animal welfare authorities in Ft. Wayne, Ind., are seeking the owner of two horses apparently abandoned in Johnny Appleseed Memorial Park last week.
Peggy Bender, communication and education specialist for the City of Ft. Wayne Department of Animal Care and Control, said a gelding and a filly were discovered April 21 by someone walking through the park. A veterinarian diagnosed both horses with upper respiratory infections, Bender said. The horses are currently undergoing treatment, she said.
If found, the horses’ owner could face criminal charges.
"An investigation is under way," Bender said
