In Kentucky, “Horse Capital of the World,” 2009 saw the poultry industry top state livestock receipts at about $930 million, according to projections from University of Kentucky College of Agriculture.

The equine sector was expected to bring in $750 million , down from the $1.1 billion highwater mark in 2007
