Sixth Annual Equine Farm and Facilities Expo
University of Kentucky Ag Equine Programs hosted the 6th annual Equine Farm and Facilities Expo June 3 at the Kentucky Equine Humane Center, in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Approximately 150 people attended the event for horse owners.
Field demonstrations covered topics such as sampling techniques for soil fertility and hay quality, equine digestion, practical parasite control, and fencing possibilities. UK specialists included Ray Smith, PhD, professor and forage extension specialist in plant and soil sciences; Martin Nielsen, DVM, PhD, EVPC, assistant professor in veterinary science at the Gluck Equine Research Center; and Bob Coleman, PhD, PAS, associate professor and extension horse specialist in animal and food sciences. Jeremy McGill, territory manager for Gallagher Animal Management Systems, and Amy Parker, MS, of McCauley Bros Inc., also participated in field demonstrations
