Utah Fire Forces Horse Evacuations

More than 80 horses are residing at a Salt Lake County, Utah, equestrian center after a wild fire forced them from their homes this past weekend.
The fire broke out early Sunday afternoon when a training exercise at Camp Williams, a Utah National Guard training base, went awry, said Lieutenant Colonel Hank McIntire, public information officer for the Utah National Guard.
Camp fire crews attempted to extinguish the blaze, but 50 mph winds spread the fire forcing the evacuation of about 5,000 people. Many of the evacuees were horse owners said Wayne Johnson operations director for the Salt Lake Equestrian Center, a designated destination for evacuated horses.
"In all we've got about 89 horses here," Johnson said
