According to a Clemson University staff member, one of two stolen mares has been recovered. The horses were stolen from the Pendleton, South Carolina farm the night of April 23, 2000.


The brands on the recovered mare’s shoulder had been altered significantly. A shoulder brand which had the number 4 with 47 underneath was changed to a backwards F and an H above the 47. The other mare is still missing. She is described as a 15.0-15.1-hand 16-year-old sorrel Quarter Horse mare, with hot brands on the left shoulder and left hip. The horse has a CU brand on her shoulder, and has a brand of the number 4 with the number 18 underneath it
