When needed, how do you protect your horse's feet from bruising and soreness?

  1. Due to incompetent farrier work my Arabian was plagued with abscesses for years. I finally located a farrier who was able to get the horse’s feet trimmed correctly and functioning normally. During the 2 1/2 years that this took I used trail boots whenever I took my Boy off the property, but lately it has become clear that he has finally developed a toughness of the soles which will finally allow me to dispense with them.

  2. I have 2 aged Arabians and they never have issues with their hooves being sore. I live on decomposed granite and they are not shod.
