All horses and humans are safe following a weekend barn fire at Old Friends, a Thoroughbred retirement facility located in Georgetown, Kentucky.

Two horses—Alphabet Soup and Archie’s Echo—were in the quarantine/hospital barn when the structure went up in flames on Jan. 23, but two Old Friends volunteers were able to evacuate both animals.

"It’s a testament to our amazing staff," said Old Friends president Michael Blowen. "The horses in the barn got out without a scratch and everyone is all right, and that’s all that matters. The fire crews have been great and we’re grateful for all of their help today."
