In addition to the three affected horses, 43 horses were potentially exposed.
Texas animal health staff, owners, and local veterinarians are working together to implement biosecurity protocols and monitor potentially exposed horses.
Three horses at the private facility were exposed after the affected horse arrived from Mexico.
All four premises are epidemiologically linked.
A Webb County premises is currently under quarantine related to the case.
Test results are pending for 62 exposed horses on the affected horse’s home premises.
The affected Dallas County farm is under official quarantine.
The lockdown and subsequent investigation follows positive tests in seven horses.
Thirteen horses at a private facility were exposed.
The cases are in Harris, Ector, and Johnson counties.
Each horse’s premises is under official quarantine.
