A chef abandoned his plan to include horsemeat on his menu after some equine welfare advocates opposed it.

Several horse owners and advocates submitted a letter to Gov. Christie urging him to sign the bill into law.

The horse is the latest among several equines found butchered in Florida’s Miami-Dade area since 2009.

Horse processing plant development is prohibited in New Jersey under a bill passed by the state’s legislature.

The amendment restricts funding for USDA inspections at U.S. horse processing plants in 2013.
