No owner wants to hear the work “navicular” during their horse’s lameness exam. It can mean the horse has podotrochlosis, a condition previously known as navicular syndrome or navicular disease, which can be careering- or life-ending. Fortunately, veterinarians now have more treatment options for helping keep horses comfortable and even serviceably sound.

To help educate horse owners about podotrochlosis, The Horse: Your Guide to Equine Health Care and Dechra have teamed up for Navicular Syndrome Awareness Week, Jan. 16-22, 2022. Dechra is the maker Osphos, an FDA-approved drug for the treatment of navicular syndrome in adult horses.

Look for more information about podotrochlosis all week on TheHorse.com, our Facebook page and Twitter feed, and in our e-newsletters.
