Test Shows Minnesota Horse Did Not Have EHV-1
A horse that became ill during the Minnesota State 4-H Horse Show last Friday (Sept. 18) tested negative for equine herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1), the University of Minnesota Extension has announced.
A Based on the horse’s neurologic signs, there was a possibility that the horse had EHV-1. The family that owned the horse chose to euthanize it because of the animal’s worsening condition and poor prognosis. Testing was conducted through the University of Minnesota Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.
A Show participants were notified of the test results the afternoon of Sept. 22.
