Temperatures are slowly starting to cool down, and it’s never too early to start planning for winter weather. Are your horses’ winter blankets ready?

In last week’s online poll, we asked our readers if they planned to blanket their horse this fall or winter. More than 1,400 people responded, and we’ve tallied the results!

Of the 1,401 respondents, 1,021 people (73%) said their horse will wear a blanket at some point this fall and winter. Some 505 individuals (36%) said their horses would wear a variety of blankets to accommodate for weather changes during the cold season. Another 261 (19%) respondents said their horse would wear blankets at night and on particularly cold days or evenings, while 255 individuals (18%) said they would blanket their horse if he was shivering or seemed cold. The remaining 380 respondents (27%) said they do not plan to blanket their horse this fall or winter.
