A team of Purdue University researchers are seeking participation in a survey connected to their ongoing study of stock-type show horse welfare.

Researchers Melissa A. Voigt, MS, PAS, and Colleen Brady, MS, PhD, are studying the perception of show horse care and treatment, and are seeking individuals to complete their survey, regardless of their experience level, discipline of choice, or experience with the stock-horse industry.

"This study is by no means meant to point out what people in the horse industry may be doing incorrect, but to highlight the fact that there are issues in our industry that we need to address," Voigt said.

The pair hopes to develop online lessons on how industry participants can "become more aware of issues and better care for show horses in all aspects, including during their training," she noted.

The survey can be accessed at https://ittybittyurl.com/1MC9. Those who complete the survey can enter to win a $50 gift card to the online tack store of their choosing.
