The Kentucky Trail Summit is an annual event hosted by the Kentucky Horse Council (KHC) and the Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP) which brings together Kentucky equestrian trail riders for horse trail education, networking, and fun. This year’s Kentucky Trail Summit will be held Nov. 15-16 at Natural Bridge State Park, and registration is now open for the event. 

Trail riding is a significant part of our equine industry. Results from the 2012 Kentucky Equine Survey show that one in three horses in Kentucky are used for trail riding. The protection and care of Kentucky’s trails is critical due to the fact that Kentucky has a small amount of public land compared to most other states.

"Hosting this trail education weekend is one of the most important things we do," said Anna Zinkhon, KHC president. "Cities are expanding and putting pressure on open land. Federal budgets for trail care and creation are being reduced. It is up to us, the users of these trails, to learn how to care for the trails, be good stewards of the land, and ride safely and responsibly."

Kentucky Senator Robin Webb, a horse owner from eastern Kentucky, will be the keynote speaker at the conference. Other presenters include federal and state land managers, safety experts, trail maintenance experts, and experienced trail riders. Sunday features optional workshops and cowboy church
