The International Equine Conference on Laminitis and Diseases of the Foot returns to the Marriott Conference Center in West Palm Beach, Fla., Nov. 1-3. This year the program features presentations on the scientific and clinical causes and treatment of laminitis.

Conference organizers have added a track this year with 26 lectures and abstracts focusing on equine foot science and hoof biomechanics. Additionally, a special half-day program on laminitis for horse owners is planned. In all, 60 faculty and abstract presenters from five continents will cover new and emerging aspects laminitis and the science of the horse’s foot.

Conference organizers have also announced that 2011’s popular pilot poster session for attendees, known as "Future Forward," will return in 2013 with expanded space available to accommodate more participants. The poster session allows conference attendees to present their own research, case studies, and professional scholarly pursuits and is designed to stimulate dialogue and collaboration among professionals during the conference.

Poster entry forms and rules are available for download on the conference website. Interested parties must submit an abstract or summary description form by Friday, Oct. 23, and at least one author listed on the poster must be present to hang, take down, and defend the poster during the judging session that will take place at an appointed time during the conference. Hanging space is limited, so it is possible that not all applications will be accepted.
