The Virginia Horse Center Foundation and the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine have teamed up to organize a seminar, "New Approaches in Equine Lameness and Podiatry," which will take place Nov. 12, beginning at 10:00 a.m. EDT. The event will take place at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington.

Speakers from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine will discuss the following topics:

  • Earl Gaughan, DVM, Dipl. ACVS, professor of large animal surgery in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, on "Lameness Exams–What the Vet is Thinking";
  • Jennifer Barrett, DVM, PhD, Dipl. ACVS, assistant professor of equine surgery at the Marion DuPont Scott Equine Medical Center, on "Regenerative Medicine and its Applications";
  • Scott Pleasant, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVS, director of the equine podiatry unit in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, on "Advances in Equine Podiatry"; and
  • Travis Burns, CJF, of the equine podiatry unit at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, on "Podiatry Case Studies."

Preregistration is required. Lunch and drinks are included in a $15 program fee.
