Pfizer Animal Health has more than doubled a $25,000 pledge to match donations to the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) Foundation’s Equine Memorial Program in 2011. In addition, Pfizer Animal Health will continue the Matching Challenge with another $25,000 pledge to match donations to the Equine Memorial Program in 2012.

In 2011 AAEP members rallied to raise more than $40,000 for the Equine Memorial Program, which assists veterinarians in expressing sympathy to clients whose horses have died or were humanely euthanized. The Matching Challenge was announced during the AAEP’s 2010 Annual Convention in Baltimore, Md.

To participate in the program, veterinarians make a $25 or larger donation in honor of their client’s deceased horse to the AAEP Foundation, which helps horses through its support of research, education, benevolence and the equine community. The AAEP Foundation then sends a letter of condolence to the client describing the veterinarian’s decision to memorialize their horse through a gift to the Foundation. More information about the Equine Memorial Program is available at www.aaepfoundation.org.
