Dechra Veterinary Products (Dechra) is now shipping the patented irap therapy system to U.S. equine veterinarians. irap uses the horse’s own blood and natural healing mechanisms, and it is an innovative treatment for equine osteoarthritis.

The irap process involves drawing whole blood from the patient into the patented syringe, which contains specially treated glass beads that stimulate the white blood cells to produce anti-inflammatory and regenerative cytokines. It is then incubated and centrifuged. The resulting serum (Autologous Conditioned Serum) contains these cytokines, and it is then extracted for re-injection into the horse.

irap therapy uses the horse’s own natural therapeutic proteins, and can be used to fight osteoarthritis and other inflammatory conditions.
