A raid on an illegal racetrack in Oklahoma last year resulted in seizure and retainment of 40 of the 70 horses rounded up at that time. Twenty-five of those horses were sold at auction yesterday (July 19) during a three-hour auction at Heritage Place auction center in Oklahoma City to recoup the cost of keeping them.
In that raid last year near at the unlicensed Red River Playground racetrack near Thackerville, more than 100 people were arrested, according to an article at NewsOK.com. The Saturday auction included 25 “licensed” racehorses, some of which will go to different careers.
