HorseRacing TV to Salute John Henry Oct. 17
|
To be held Oct. 17 at 8:00 p.m. (EST), the show will be co-hosted by Scott Hazelton and Becky Witzman and will feature in-depth interviews with those who knew the two-time Horse of the Year best–his longtime trainer Ron McAnally and Hall of Fame jockeys Chris McCarron and Laffit Pincay Jr. In addition, racing fans will have the opportunity to ask questions by submitting queries via e-mail (comments@hrtv.com). One of the sport’s greatest and most beloved all-time stars, John Henry was euthanatized at age 32 on Oct. 8 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. In his career that spanned more than seven years, John Henry won 39 races in 85 starts and banked more than $6.5 million. Named Horse of the Year in 1981 and 1984, and voted champion grass horse four times (1980, ’81, ’83 and ’84) as well as champion older horse in 1981, he was elected to the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame in 1990. Readers are invited to submit their favorite memories of John on a message board at https://news.bloodhorse.com/johnhenrymemoriam.asp.
