Dr. Frank Andrews

The Louisiana State University (LSU) School of Veterinary Medicine recently announced the selection of Frank Andrews, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVIM, as the new director of LSU’s Equine Health Studies Program.

Andrews brings a strong background in leadership, equine internal medicine, veterinary research, and collaboration with industry. He will join Louisiana State in late summer 2008.

Andrews is currently a professor and section chief in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at the University of Tennessee’s veterinary school. He earned his DVM and MS degrees from Washington State University and completed his residency at The Ohio State University.

He has received many awards and honors and currently serves on numerous boards and in societies such as the Comparative Gastroenterology Society (of which he is a past president), Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis Society (also past president), Medical Advisory Board of the Knoxville Zoologic Park, and Equine Advisory Councils with Astra-Zeneca, Merial, and Intervet, Inc.

He has published over 100 refereed publications and book chapters and has presented his research internationally.
