After great demand, The British Horse Society, in partnership with The Home of Rest for Horses, are holding a second equine welfare conference on September 24, 2006 at Bailbrook House, Bath.
Following on from the success of the first British Horse Society Equine Welfare Conference, held at York racecourse in 2005, the BHS are pleased to announce the date for a second conference to be run in partnership with The Home of Rest for Horses.
The partnership between the two equine charities has developed over the past five years illustrating how sectors of the industry can work together for the same cause. The BHS are also grateful for the support of Your Horse magazine.
Rachel Molloy, acting senior executive of welfare, said, “The conference, entitled ‘A Horse for Life’, will focus on many aspects of the care and welfare of the horse from foal to maturity, with topics ranging from responsible breeding to equine rescue and farriery.
“We are very excited to announce key speakers including Professor Derek Knottenbelt, Jane Holderness-Roddam and Dr Teresa Hollands, who will present informative talks in their areas of expertise.”
There will be opportunities throughout the day for delegates to have any queries answered by the experts. Delegates will receive a handbook with summaries of the speaker’s talks to take away and make notes in. A buffet lunch is also included.
The BHS responds to hundreds of welfare concerns, many of which occur as a result of ignorance and neglect rather than intentional cruelty. BHS Welfare aims to prevent cases of neglect by educating horse owners and carers through educational conferences, advisory literature, and a network of welfare representatives throughout the UK.

To promote this exciting event the first 10 people to purchase tickets will receive one of the following bonuses; a pair of free tickets for Your Horse Live, a subscription to Your Horse magazine or a discounted ticket rate of £20.
