The total number of equine cases of illness caused by West Nile virus (WNV) confirmed at the USDA’s National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL) or reported by state officials so far this year is now 5,380. That is an increase of 774 cases from 5 days ago. The cases are from 33 states:


Alabama (34), Arkansas (52), Colorado (164), Florida (130), Georgia (25), Illinois (249), Indiana (256), Iowa (268), Kansas (214), Kentucky (247), Louisiana (299), Maryland (2), Michigan (58), Minnesota (492), Mississippi (163), Missouri (174), Montana (66), Nebraska (825), New Jersey (13), New Mexico (19), New York (5), North Dakota (492), Ohio (55), Oklahoma (26), Pennsylvania (7), South Carolina (2), South Dakota (549), Tennessee (52), Texas (375), Vermont (3), Virginia (3), Wisconsin (26), and Wyoming (35).
