The World Equine Veterinary Association (WEVA) meeting will next be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Oct. 15-17, 2003. A number of associations have agreed to sponsor speakers, including the American Association of Equine Practitioners, and the equine veterinary associations in Britain, Ireland, Italy, and France. Among the 10 or so veterinarians and researchers committed to speak at the meeting are Drs. Elizabeth Santschi, Fairfield Bain, Reuben J. Rose, Sue Dyson, and Warwick Bayly. There also will be shorter abstract presentations in various sessions.
The WEVA mission is to promote equine health and well-being and veterinary education in lesser privileged countries with a veterinary structure, but without access to the same physical facilities, equipment, and information base as other countries.
“We hope to continue to reach out from more fortunate parts of the globe to help places where the same opportunities don’t exist,” said former WEVA president Bayly. “That’s the real mission, and that’s what sets WEVA apart from other organizations
