We’ve all heard the complaints: Tickets to the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky, are too expensive; lodging and other associated costs are too high; the ongoing economic slowdown is wreaking havoc with WEG organizers’ budgets and plans.

Well, it looks as if the powers-that-be have heard and are making an attempt to correct their course. From today, July 15, through Labor Day, September 6, tickets to selected sessions of the dressage, eventing, jumping, and reining competitions are being discounted by 30 percent. In addition, tickets to the endurance competition are being offered for $25 instead of the $45 full price.

For a list of the sessions being discounted and a cost comparison, see the chart below, which is reproduced by permission of the World Games 2010 Foundation. Click here to visit the WEG Web site’s ticket-sales page, with a link to Ticketmaster.

While I’m on the subject of saving money, here’s a reminder that shuttle wristbands for transportation from WEG Housing Bureau hotels to the Kentucky Horse Park are $5/day, but only through July 30. On August 1, the price doubles. I know, I know, the shuttle service was supposed to have been free; but unfortunately that’s changed, so $5 may be as good as it gets.
