In previous posts (which you can read by clicking here and here), I reviewed the US Equestrian Federation‘s announced short lists for the driving, para-equestrian, eventing, jumping, reining, and dressage teams for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. Now we’re within the 30-day countdown window; and since I last wrote, the USEF announced the WEG short lists for the other two WEG disciplines, vaulting and endurance. They are:

There are some interesting stories tucked into these lists. First is California’s obvious domination of the vaulting discipline. Of the 30 short-listed vaulters, only five are not from the Golden State. I haven’t encountered another equestrian discipline quite so geographically concentrated. Can anyone tell me why this is so for vaulting? Inquiring journalistic minds want to know
