AAEP 2010: AAEP Foundation Scholarships Awarded to Outstanding Students

Eight outstanding veterinary students who have dedicated their careers to the health of horses were each awarded $2,500 scholarships from American Live Stock Inc., Hiscox Insurance Company Inc., and the AAEP Foundation.
The annual scholarships are presented to fourth-year veterinary students who are proven leaders at their veterinary schools, advocates for equine welfare, and academic achievers. The scholarship winners were recognized during the Dec. 5 Student Program and Luncheon, held at the AAEP's 56th annual convention, which is under way through today in Baltimore, Md.
The 2010 scholarship recipients are:

Mackenzie Adams, Colorado State University;

Michael Rogers, Oklahoma State University;

Ashley Maul, University of Illinois;

Dionne Benson, University of Minnesota;

Nikki Dalesandro, North Carolina State University;

Amanda Eason, Iowa State University; and

Ashley Homm, Auburn University
Since 1989 the AAEP Foundation has collaborated with American Live Stock Inc., which was acquired by Hiscox Insurance Inc. in 2009, to offer an annual scholarship program. In the past 21 years, the program has allocated nearly $319,000 to assist 154 veterinary students in their pursuit of a career in equine medicine
