World-renowned equine surgeon Larry Bramlage, DVM, MS, will be the “On Call” veterinarian standing by to assist the ABC Sports broadcast team during the May 1 running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs. The “On Call” program, developed by the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), provides accurate information to the media and viewers regarding equine athletes and veterinary health-care issues.

Dr. Bramlage practices at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, where he specializes in orthopedic surgery and the treatment of Thoroughbred horses. An active member of AAEP, Dr. Bramlage is also an adjunct associate professor at Ohio State University. The many distinguished honors he has received include the 1994 Jockey Club Gold Medal in recognition of his effort, dedication and contribution to Thoroughbred racing
