Blue Grass Stakes (gr. II) runner-up Lil’s Lad underwent successful arthroscopic surgery April 14 to remove a non-displaced bone chip in his left front ankle. The routine operation on the colt was performed by Dr. Larry Bramlage at the Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital near Lexington.

Trainer Neil Howard said the injury would not threaten Lil’s Lad’s career and that the colt is expected to return for a fall campaign. The small chip was detected when X-rays were taken April 12 after Lil’s Lad finished second as the 2-5 favorite in the April 11 Blue Grass at Keeneland.
